      MATRE Deck Integrated Fire Fighting System (DIFFS)

      Matre Deck Integrated Fire Fighting System (DIFFS) - specially developed to extinguish fire on helidecks.

       

      An activated DIFFS system will extinguish a major spill fire on the helideck within 15 seconds. Although - tests have shown that such fires in most cases are extinguished in less than 10 seconds.

       

      Matre DIFFS can be automatically activated by detection system or manually by release panels (push buttons). Rescue personnel can safely perform rescue operations on the helideck even when the system is fully activated.

       

      Matre DIFFS can be used on many various installations and can be customized according to customer specifications. Today Matre DIFFS is used on various offshore installations as well as yachts and roof top helidecks.

       

      DIFFS consist of foam mixing skid and Matre pop-up nozzles.

       

      Matre DIFFS is designed in compliance to all applicable standards and regulations (CAP437, NORMAM27, ICAO, NMD, NORSOK).

      Matre has since the late eighties delivered specially designed foam proportioner for use on industrial, marine and offshore installations.

      Matre Balanced Pressure Proportioner 

      Matre Balanced Pressure Proportioner inserts foam concentrate into water.


      Matre Balanced Pressure Proportioner is a wafer type, mounted between ANSI or DIN flanges in the piping joints. The foam concentrate is supplied to the proportioner by a pump. Foam supply interface are treaded as standard. Other interface, checkvalves or combivalves are optional. Matre Balanced Pressure Proportioner is designed to render possible an effective production which in turn leads to swift delivery times regardless of the chosen material.

      Matre Balanced Pressure Proportioner is type approved by DNV.

      Foam insertion: 1% - 6%

      Size: 1 1/2" - 14"

      Water flowrate:
      100 - 40.000 l/min. Each proportioner can be used in a range of 10% - 100% flow.

      Materials: 
      Bronze, AISI316, 6Mo, Titanium, or other specified materials.

       

      Matre Turbine In-Line

      Matre Turbine In-line Foam Proportioner is known for its reliability.
       

      The foam proportioner starts to function as

      soon as water starts to flow through it. For testing purposes or to run the system with

      water only it is possible to choose whether to mix in foam or to send it in return to the tank. This represents a substantial economical and

      enviromental saving and at the same time

      increasing safety. It also helps to simplify the

      firefighting system as auxiliary valves can be omitted.


      By placing seperate foam tanks at each respective valve station instead of one large centrally placed tank, safety will be further increased.

      The simple and robust construction of  Matre Turbine In-Line Foam Proportioner ensures that it is practically maintenance free. 

      Foam insertion: 1% or 3%.

      Materials: Bronze, AISI316, Titanium, or other specified materials.
      Manifolds are made of AISI316.

       

       

      Matre Foam Inductor

      Matre Foam Inductor is a traditional inductor-design. Each inductor is customised to the client’s requirements regarding flow and pressure.


      Matre Foam Inductors are delivered with a check valve as an integrated part of the unit. It can also be delivered with a special shut off valve that prevents leakage from the foam tank if the foam level is higher than the inductor. This valve is operated by the water pressure upstream to the inductor. The valve will open and operate as a check valve as soon

      as there is an inlet pressure at the inductor.

       
      The principle of an inductor gives a specific characteristic for performance. No moving parts can affect the performance. The inductor is therefore the most reliable insertion device possible. Changing of inlet flow or pressure parameter will not be possible without recalculation, change of nozzle dimensions accordingly and recalibration of insertion rate.

      This device suck foam liquid from the tank as result of vacuum created by water passing through the venturi. A minimum of 30% drop of pressure is necessary for the inductor to work properly. This pressure drop must be taken in to consideration during calculation of system parameters and layout both on upstream and downstream side of the inductor.

      Foam insertion: 1% - 6%.
       
      Size: 1" - 8" but special solutions can be delivered. We have delivered units up to 14" flanges.

      Matre Balanced Wide Range Prop.

      Matre Balanced Wide Range Proportioner inserts foam concentrate into water over a very wide water capacity range.

       

      Matre Balanced Wide Range Proportioner is a wafer type mounted between ANSI or DIN flanges in the water line.The concentrate is supplied to the proportioner by a foam concentrate pump. Pressure of foam concentrate shall be at least 1,2 bar above water inlet pressure. Max. differential pressure between water and foam concentrate is 5 bar.


      Construction:
      Design Pressure: 20 bar
      Test pressure: 30 bar


      Straight pipe requirements:

      • Upstream: 3 x pipe diam.
      • Downstream: None.

      Matre Wide Range Proportioner

      Matre Wide Range Proportioner is the foam insertion unit in a bladder tank system.

      The unit is special designed for sprinkler system and has a very wide water range and accuracy over the entire water range. Matre Wide Range Proportioner is a wafer type mounted between ANSI or DIN flanges in the water line. The concentrate is supplied to the proportioner from the bladder tank. Inlet foam pressure shall be equal to inlet water pressure to the proportioning unit.

      Matre Bladder Tank Proportioner 

      Matre Bladder Tank Proportioner is the foam insertion unit in a bladder tank system.

       

      Matre Bladder Tank Proportioner is a wafer type mounted between ANSI or DIN flanges in the water line.The concentrate is supplied

      to the proportioner from the bladder tank.

      Inlet foam pressure shall be equal to inlet water pressure to the proportioning unit.

      Replacing the orifice plate in the proportioner will easily change the insertion rate.

      Matre Bladder Tank Proportioner is designed to make swift and effective delivery in the material specified possible.

       

      Insertion accuracy can deviate in the low water flow range.

    • FIREFIGHTING: MATRE Nozzles

      MATRE Nozzles

      Matre has developed different types of nozzles for firefighting. These are permanent installed high capacity deluge nozzles and pop-up nozzles for helideck or larger areas such as hangars or similar.

       

       

      Pop-up nozzle

      The deck integrated pop-up nozzle can be delivered in two versions: offshore-/ ship version and yacht version.

       

      Standard material is SS316 for both nozzles and main parts in foam skid. Optional materials for nozzles are seawater resistant bronze and even titanium.

       

      The nozzles are installed flush with the deck top surface.When the system is released the nozzles will be lifted up by the water pressure and make an effective spray distribution of water/foam mixture to the entire landing area.

       

      According to the latest requirements given in CAP-437 these nozzles are further developed. The flow from a blocked nozzle will now remain the same as a fully popped-up nozzle. In this way the system still deliver full water capacity

      on deck if any nozzle are blocked.

      Flexi nozzles

      MATRE Flexi Nozzle is a high capasity deluge nozzle. Both water capacity, spread angle and jet direction can be adjusted.

      MATRE Flexi Nozzles are in size 1" to 4" with flow range from approx. 200 l/min. to 4000 l/min. These nozzles have adjustable direction, spread angle and capacity.

       

      The large models of the nozzle operates as a fixed monitor with water capacity up to 4000 l/min and reaching a length of 60m when in jet position and with water/foam solution.

       

      Matre Flexi Nozzle can be used when a specific area has to be covered like:

       

      • Car deck on a ferry
      • Tank top
      • Well head area

      Spread angle: 0° (jet position) - 175°

      Water jet can be adjusted 30° to each side of the centreline.
